Position Summary

The Medical Affairs Director will lead ProScribe KK, part of the ProScribe Division of Envision Pharma Group. As a proven leader with entrepreneurial strength, you will help identify and develop new business opportunities, build relationships with key stakeholders, and oversee the development of strategic, high-quality content deliverables.  You will use your in-depth understanding of the Japanese pharmaceutical market, medical science, ethical practices, and product positioning to help our clients succeed. With your leadership and coaching skills, you will motivate and help our Japanese team succeed.

The successful candidate will join a friendly team of well-qualified professionals who are responsible for account management, scientific communications, and technology, and will be responsible for strengthening the ProScribe KK team in our Tokyo office as the business grows.
 

Main Duties

  • Act internally and externally as the head of our Japanese medical communications operation.

  • Lead ProScribe’s Japan-based business development activities to secure long-term programs of work with key clients. You will proactively identify and develop opportunities via existing channels, your personal networks, and your thorough understanding of current and emerging needs of Japanese clients.

  • Build respectful and trusted relationships with key stakeholders including clients, thought leaders, industry associations, and patient organizations.

  • Take the lead in developing an annual medical communications operating plan for Japan.

  • Use your thought-leader status to liaise with Envision’s global leaders in medical affairs and help drive Japanese and international medical affairs initiatives.

  • Exceed clients’ expectations by guiding and developing high-quality content across multiple channels (eg, medical plans, publication plans, scientific platforms, publications, slide kits, advisory boards and executive summaries, speaker training materials, competitor intelligence, educational symposia, and summaries of key literature).

  • Oversee account teams to ensure delivery of exceptional client service at all times.

  • Contribute to Envision Pharma’s outstanding staff retention rate by providing leadership, motivation, and coaching to the ProScribe KK team.
     

Key Attributes/Competencies

  • Recognized thought-leader with strong business drive and entrepreneurial strength.

  • Advanced degree in a scientific discipline (MD or PhD preferred).

  • At least 5 years of relevant recent medical affairs experience within a pharmaceutical/biotech company or medical communication agency.

  • Oral and written fluency in Japanese and English.

  • An organized and disciplined self-starter who thrives on a high level of accountability.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Impressive interpersonal and presentation skills.

  • Ability to prepare medical affairs content accurately, compliantly, and creatively in a fast‐paced environment.

  • Organizational and project management skills, ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks, and effective time and budget management.

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.

  • Available for regular domestic and periodic global travel (may involve weekend travel).
